Lester B. Pearson Scholarship Overview

Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will cover four years of tuition, books, incidental fees, and complete living expenses. The scholarship is only available to first-year undergraduate students at the University of Toronto. Around 37 students will be designated Lester B. Pearson Scholars each year.

To become a Pearson Scholar, you must receive a nomination from your school and apply to the University of Toronto for undergraduate studies. Inquire with your school about the possibility of getting nominated. You will be provided with a dedicated, secure link to the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship application once you have been nominated and applied to the University of Toronto.

Eligibility

Pearson Scholars are students who have excelled academically and creatively and are recognised as leaders in their schools. They have the potential to make a positive impact on the world in the future. Their variety of interests, intellectual vitality, and impact on the lives of their school and community set them apart from their peers who may have similar academic achievements.

To be considered eligible for the Pearson International Scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student (i.e. a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);
  • Be in your senior year of high school or have graduated no earlier than June 2022.
  • Commencing your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2023 (students already attending post-secondary studies will not be considered. Additionally, students commencing their studies in January 2023 at other institutions will not be considered).

Lester B. Pearson Scholarship Application Procedure

  1. Receive a nomination from your school. Schools not already contacted or verified are required to submit an application to participate in the program. They can do so here.
  2. Apply to study at the University of Toronto and plan to begin your studies in 2023. Aim to complete your application prior to the deadline. Please note that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for your first choice of program at the University of Toronto. You can apply to several courses and may receive admission to them all; however, the Scholarship, if awarded to you, would be restricted to your first choice.
  3. You can apply for the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship online after we have received your nomination and you have applied to the university.

Application Deadlines

  • School nomination deadline: November 30, 2022
  • Student OUAC application deadline: December 14, 2022. It is advised that you apply for admission through the OUAC before November 7, 2022, as spaces in programs fill up quickly.
  • Student scholarship application deadline: January 16, 2023
